
What began in Dan Puente’s garage in 1990 has grown into one of the Southwest’s most respectable electrical contractors. Dan Puente started DP Electric to create an environment where each team member can grow both personally and professionally, and that founding mission holds true to this day.
DP Electric’s family culture was created by founder Dan Puente and is now the main focus of his daughter Danielle Puente Torres. With a background in accounting, Danielle Puente Torres started as the Company’s Controller in 2015 and advanced to Chief Financial Officer in 2018. In 2023, Dan Puente transitioned leadership to Danielle Puente Torres as the new President of DP Electric. In her current role, Danielle is passionate about growing the business in a way that aligns with the Company’s founding values. Together, this generational leadership ensures our company remains true to its roots while driving forward with a fresh perspective.
Launched in 2018, DP University was built to provide opportunity and growth for our people. In 2020, DP University expanded to include a four-year NCCER-accredited apprenticeship program recognized by the Department of Labor. In 2021, DP University opened a permanent 20,000 square foot training center equipped with two large classrooms and a hands-on training lab. Today, DP University also offers advanced leadership programs and technical training available to all employees–always free, always focused on developing our team.
DP Electric became 30% employee-owned in 2021 and proudly reached 100% employee ownership in 2024. This milestone means every team member is also an owner, creating a culture where accountability, pride, and shared success are at the center of everything we do.
Our foundation was built in Arizona, and in 2023 we expanded into Texas with a new operation in Austin. This step marked an exciting chapter of growth in the Southwest, allowing us to bring our trusted expertise, strong culture, and reliable performance to new partners and projects across the region.

With over 100 of our team members holding their Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction (STS-C) Certification, the commitment and knowledge of safety leadership is not only held by our safety professionals but across our field leadership team.
